Warangal :

Warangal is the fourth largest city in Andhra Pradesh. It is called a tri-city including Hanamakonda and Kazipet and is also known as Orugallu, and Ekasila Nagaram. The history of the city dates back to 12th - 14th century AD. when it was the capital of a Hindu Shaivaite kingdom ruled by the Kakatiya dynasty. The entire city was carved in a single rock, hence the name Orukallu 'one rock' came into being. Warangal is dotted with beautiful lakes, fine temples, rich fauna and flora. Situated at a distance of 50 km. from Hyderabad, Warangal is one of the most famous tourist destinations for the people visting Andhra Pradesh. The temples and monuments exemplify classy architecture. The water bodies and lakes like Ramappa Lake or Pakhal Lake and the wild life sanctuaries are the major adds to the grace of the city. Warangal Fort :: Warangal Fort
It was built during 13th century. The structure combines geometrical intricacies and beautifully carved arches. The fort has 45 towers and pillars and a temple of Mother Earth called 'Swayambhudevi Alayam' in the middle.
Eturnagaram Sanctuary :: Eturnagaram Sanctuary
This large sanctuary is the home to tiger, leopard, sloth bear, nilgai, chousingha (four horned antelope), chinkara (mountain gazelle), black buck and various bird species, this sanctuary is very big. This wonderful shelter also houses teak and other beautiful tall trees.
Pakhal Lake :: Pakhal Lake
Pakhal Lake, situated amidst undulating forest land hills and dales, is a popular retreat for the tourists. The lake was constructed around 1213 A.D. It is spread over an area of 30 Sq.Kms. There is a Pakhal Wild Life Sanctuary on the shore of the lake.
Thousand Pillar Temple :: Thousand Pillar Temple
This splendid architectural monument was established in 1163 AD. The exquisitely carved pillars of the temple which is dedicated to God Shiva, Vishnu and Surya . It is one of the major attraction of Warangal.
